Piedmont Service Trucks has introduced its new Drop-In Unit, a tool box/air compressor kit that dealers can bolt onto pickup trucks to create rapid response tire service vehicles.
"It'll fit any F-250 on the market," says Piedmont General Manager Sam Nash, and also will fit long-bed F-150 trucks.
The unit comes in two configurations: one that covers the entire truck bed and one that covers half a truck bed.
It is equipped with a cable that connects to the truck's battery and also can be powered by a motorcycle battery.
Drop-In Units can be made to order, says Nash. "It's not going to be an all-day, high-volume service vehicle, but it gives you" small-volume, rapid response capabilities.
