Bridgestone/Firestone Commercial Tire President Ramsey to retire

March 14, 2003

Chuck Ramsey, president of Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC's (BFNT) North American Commercial Tire Group, will retire on April 1, 2003.

BFNT Chairman, CEO and President Mark Emkes will assume Ramsey's duties until a successor is announced.

Ramsey "has agreed to serve BFNT on a consulting basis," says Emkes.

Ramsey joined Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. as an hourly employee in 1970.

He was promoted to Commercial Tire Group president in 2000, overseeing Bridgestone/Firestone's commercial truck, farm, bus and OTR tire operations, plus the company's mileage and tube sales programs.

Following Bridgestone/Firestone Inc.'s reorganization in 2001, Ramsey also has served as a board member for BFNT, parent company Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc., and BFS Retail & Commercial Operations LLC.

"Throughout his career, Chuck has demonstrated a clear focus on the business and loyalty to our company," says Emkes. "He is one of the best businessmen I have ever worked with."
