Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. will have a run-flat tire ready for the replacement market by mid-year.
The Kumho ECSTA MX XRP (for Extended Run-Flat Protection) will be available in two sizes for the C-5 Corvette: 245/45R17 and 275/40R18.
"One of the things we have to do is continue to work on our image," says Dave Hudrlik, vice president of sales. "This shows we have the technology available to us to produce run-flat tires."
The tire features a re-inforced sidewall and is designed to fit on a standard wheel, he adds.
Goodyear's EMT (Extended Mobility Tire) run-flat is original equipment on the C-5. "You're going to see more run-flats at OE," says Rick Brennan, Kumho's high performance brand manager.
