Premium tire manufacturer Hankook is the official main sponsor of the upcoming "Stars & Cars" event, the already traditional season windup of Mercedes-Benz motor sports.
On 12th December, the complete driver line-up including all the champions and 45,000 visitors will be expected in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart. In addition to Formula 1 drivers Nico Rosberg and three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, DTM champion Pascal Wehrlein and FIA F3 European champion Felix Rosenquist will also be amongst the guests, both of whom were able to win titles driving on Hankook tires in the past season.
"As the original equipment provider for various Mercedes-Benz cars, SUVs and trucks, we have been a global partner with Daimler AG for a while," Ho-Youl Pae, Hankook Tire's Head of Europe, explained. "We have also been working together very successfully with Mercedes-Benz motorsports for a long time in international motorsports such as formula, touring and GT racing. Now to be selected as the exclusive tire partner and main sponsor for Stars & Cars 2015 is a great honor for us."
This year the event will take a new, spectacular course. On a race track set up inside the Mercedes-Benz Arena, which is otherwise used for football, the motorsport professionals will give themselves and the public some real racing action inside the stadium. In a total of 15 races, the "who is who" of international racing will launch themselves from the start line. With the two Formula 1 and eight DTM drivers, ten drivers are already set. Fans can nominate their favorites for the other six of a total of 16 available starting spots at the mercedes.me/starsandcars website by 27th November 2015. The final race of the two fastest drivers for the "Stars & Cars Champion 2015" award will be held on Saturday evening in style in identical Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 racing cars, all on Hankook tires.
Like on the many racing weekends of the year, the striking motorsports truck from Hankook Competition, the tire manufacturer's motorsports offshoot, will also take its place in the driver's paddock at "Stars & Cars 2015" at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart. Spectators can watch live how the tires of the racing vehicles are mounted and get information about the exhibited Hankook performance products for road cars. The German TV station Sport1 among others will broadcast the event live from 17:00 until 20:00 h. In addition to the race, spectators can also look forward to a fringe program with live music performances by well-known artists like Marlon Roudette, Culcha Candela, Cro or DJ Larry van Housen.
There will also be various show races, including a race between Formula 1 legends Mika Häkkinen and David Coulthard who will compete against each other on the spectacular Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6x6 off-road trucks. Hankook will also be raffling off two pairs of VIP tickets for the “Stars & Cars” event in Stuttgart including overnight accommodation at the Essen Motor Show, Europe's largest annual performance show for tuning, motorsports, production sports vehicles and classic cars from 27/11 - 06/12/2015, at its booth in Hall 10, Stand F100.
