Winterton decides to retire after 42 years with Goodyear

Nov. 2, 2015

The name Jack Winterton has been synonymous with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for much of his 42-year career with the company.

In spirit, that will continue, at least in the near term. However, Winterton says the time is right for him to retire.

By the end of this year, Goodyear will need to replace him as the vice president of global sales and marketing.

John "Jack" Winterton has spent his entire career with Goodyear in "customer-facing" roles, including more than a decade developing and executing the strategic direction for Goodyear’s consumer business in North America.

From 2002 to 2011, Winterton helped develop and execute the strategic direction for Goodyear’s North American Tire consumer business. Under his leadership, the business shifted its focus to producing and selling high-value branded products in targeted market segments. He was named president of the North American Tire consumer business unit in 2011.

Last year, his duties expanded globally when he was named to help lead the alignment of Goodyear’s "customer-facing capabilities" around the world in the development of a global sales and marketing operating system.
