Nitto Tire U.S.A. Inc. has introduced the NT05, what the company calls its most aggressive non-competition street tire.
This summer performance tire gets its name from the fusion of two of Nitto's tires: the NT01, a D.O.T.-approved R-compound tire, and the NT555 UHP. The name signifies that the tire is based on the NT01’s race technology but designed specifically for maximum street performance, the company reports.
To optimize dry performance, a large continuous center rib and big outer shoulder blocks provide optimum tread contact with the road. Reinforced tread blocks provide rigidity and stability. These tread features help provide crisp turn-in, steering feedback and stability under braking, says Nitto.
The NT05 will be available in 20 17-, 18-, 19- and 20-inch sizes in the first quarter of 2009 to fit the most popular high-performance vehicles. One additional 19-inch and three more 20-inch sizes will be available starting in the second quarter.
