Tire Consultants Welcomes Arthur Mayer

Tire Consultants Group LLC (TCG) has named automotive industry veteran Arthur Mayer to oversee the group's new market research and business development unit.

Mayer will direct TCG’s market research and business development efforts on behalf of the company’s roster of clients. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the domestic and international tire and professional services arenas, principally in market and competitive research, marketing, business development and strategic planning.

“Mr. Mayer’s broad understanding of domestic and international markets and his acumen in research and strategic planning will prove extremely advantageous to Tire Consultants Group going forward,” says Skip Viola, company president. “His in-depth knowledge of the automotive aftermarket and changing market conditions here and overseas will serve us well as we expand our client base and meet the needs of the most demanding customers.”

He began his professional career as an industry analyst at The Freedonia Group, covering capital goods and technology, and spent several years in Germany working in market research and field sales in the local subsidiary of Merck & Co. He then joined Ernst & Young LLP's Center for Business Knowledge and later Pharmacia and an Omnicom communications agency in Cleveland, Ohio with client service, business development, and strategy responsibilities.

In 2007, Mayer applied his functional and global expertise at Dealer Tire LLC. Beyond core responsibilities in business environment and competitive monitoring and executive briefing, Mayer's projects included OEM contracts, new market entry and investments, potential partnerships or acquisitions, international expansion, and new technology and service offerings, including what later became the RightTurn e-commerce Web site.

After six years with Dealer Tire Mayer then returned to his own Zephyr Research Partners LLC, working with both the global tire and pharma/biotech sectors. His work and clients included Smithers Rapra, and Biogen Idec, andpartnership with other consultancies such as Torreya Insights.

Mayer joined TCG as of Sept. 1, 2015.
