Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. will unveil what it's calling the world's first 15-series "ultra low profile tire," the Ecsta KU31, next week during the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show.
The tire will initially be available in size 385/15ZR22 and carries a Z speed rating.
Kumho officials say the company used cutting-edge computer simulation technology to design the tire with "an optimized sidewall structure. This prevents the formation of standing waves, or ripples, in the contact patch, which form when heat builds up at high speeds."
Kumho also says the tire has "semi run-flat capability, ensuring that the tires remain firmly on the rim even after a puncture or loss of pressure."
