Goodyear to receive grant money from North Carolina

Oct. 24, 2008

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has been approved to receive grant money from the State of North Carolina. The funds will be used to modernize Goodyear's plant in Fayetteville.

From a production capacity standpoint, Fayetteville is Goodyear's second largest North American plant, with the ability to produce 57,000 passenger and light truck tires per day, according to Modern Tire Dealer research. The factory opened in 1969.

North Carolina will pay $3 million a year for 10 years to Goodyear, says a Goodyear spokesperson.

"We haven't gotten any (grant money) yet. There are agreements that have to be finalized."
