Hercules recalls 90,000 All Trac A/T SUV tires

July 30, 2015

Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling 90,000 All Trac A/T tires manufactured between June 2008 and May 2010. The company believes the SUV tires are similar to those recalled in 2014 by ITG Voma, which were made by the same manufacturer.

The tires can experience sudden tread separation, according to the company’s recall filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA.)

The Hercules tires were made by Shandong Yongsheng Rubber Group Co. Ltd. (Yongsheng.) ITG Voma uses the same manufacturer, and ITG Voma previously recalled tires built with a partial nylon cap and replaced them with tires having a full nylon cap. ITG Voma says the full nylon cap would “enhance the ability of the tires to withstand rapid air loss and to protect the tire tread from separating.”

Out of an abundance of caution, Hercules intends to voluntarily recall its SUV tires manufactured by Yongsheng that were manufactured without a full nylon cap.

The affected tires are:
