Modern Tire Dealer wins two gold medals

Modern Tire Dealer and Auto Service Professional won four awards, including three gold medals, for editorial excellence from the 24th International Automotive Media Competition (IAMC).

Entered in the Magazine Writing divisions, MTD took home the following International Automotive Media Awards for stories/issues published in 2014:

* Gold, Business category, “Building Business,” Lori Mavrigian and Neal Weingart.

* Gold, Best Single Issue, “Performance Handbook,” Bob Ulrich, Lori Mavrigian, Ann Neal, Wayne Williams and Bob Bissler.

* Bronze, Feature category, "All for one and one for all,” Ulrich.

Building Business” was the cover story for MTD’s November 2014 issue. It highlighted the pros and cons of building a new facility from the ground up by Ziegler Tire & Supply Co. in Canton, Ohio.

All for one and one for all” was MTD’s story profiling the 2014 Tire Dealer of the Year winner, Bruce Halle. Halle is the patriarch of Reinalt-Thomas Corp., which does business as the more familiar Discount Tire, the 900-plus store chain based in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Mike Mavrigian, editor of MTD's sister publication, ASP, won a gold medallion in the Technical/General category for his two-part series on premature brake wear. MTD and ASP are part of Bobit Business Media Inc.

The IAMC awards ceremony was held in the Brembo North America Media Tent at the 37th annual Concours d’Elegance of America in Plymouth, Mich., July 26.

The purpose of the IAMC is to "recognize and encourage excellence in all forms of automotive media." The competition is administered, produced and owned by the International Society for Vehicle Preservation, a non-profit educational organization.
