Tariffs are making tire manufacturers sweat

The last time tariffs on Chinese consumer tire imports from China were in place, few domestic tire manufacturers made their feelings known on the subject.

Were the quiet ones for or against the additional duties? Based on the financial benefit they received because of them, Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich says the former.

With the second round of tariffs about to start, you might expect domestic tire makers to be happy again. In his latest blog, Ulrich quotes one person who believes the tariffs are political in nature -- and not something tire companies truly want.
