Personnel changes at Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. and reorganizational shifts continue following the company’s acknowledgement of falsified data for faulty earthquake shock absorbers that were installed in 154 buildings.
The company previously had announced both its chairman and president would resign. Other executives resigned or were demoted, and some were ordered to pay back portions of their salaries earned in the last year. Toyo still anticipates another emergency shareholders meeting to be held sometime before the end of the year, and the company is appointing a chairman or special advisor from outside the company.
For its tire business, Takashi Shimizu is taking over as general manager of the North America Business Unit, Tire Business Group Headquarters from Toyo President Takuji Yamamoto. Yamamoto remains president until the forthcoming shareholders meeting.
