Cooper adds size to Roadmaster RM230 HH

June 10, 2015

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has added a size to its popular Roadmaster RM230 HH tire line to meet the demands of severe-duty applications, such as logging and mining.

The Roadmaster RM230 HH tire in size 275/70R22.5 is available for orders now.

Cooper says the Roadmaster RM230 HH tire is designed to withstand stone penetration, with 18-ply rating (load range J) construction, tread depth of 22/32nds, cut and chip resistant compounding, and an off-road design with lugs and a stone protector ledge.

Gary Schroeder, Cooper’s director of commercial vehicle and OEM sales, the new size offering was inspired by the tire maker’s visits with Canadian loggers, who expressed a need for a robust trailer tire.

“We’ve seen first hand in the field that when it comes to severe duty, loggers and miners put their trailer tires to the test, and as a result, tire life expectancy can be shortened,” Schroeder says. “Our new RM230 HH has a very deep tread at 22/32nds while most highway trailer tires are in the range of 12/32nds to 16/32nds. With the deeper tread, we can help ward off tire damage from off-road challenges, such as shot rock and tree roots. Plus, our special compounding helps in combatting scrubbing once the tire is running on pavement.”

The RM230 HH features a high tensile strength four-belt package to help promote multiple retreads. “The tire also comes with a six-year, two retread warranty,” Schroeder says.
