Belle Tire to add second shift at plant

Oct. 15, 2008

Belle Tire Distributors wants to add a second shift to its retread plant in Allen Park, Mich. The 40,000-square-foot plant currently produces more than 220 truck tire retreads per day. It began full-scale production four months ago.

A second shift will more than double the plant's current output, says Tom Bowman, vice president of Belle Tire's Commercial Division.

Belle Tire currently has four retread shops: two in the greater Detroit area (where Allen Park is located); one in Cleveland, Ohio; and another in Toledo, Ohio.

It is the 23rd largest independent commercial tire dealership in the United States with seven commercial-only outlets and five combination commercial/retail outlets, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.
