Apollo promotes Kumar to CFO

May 15, 2015

Gaurav Kumar has been elevated to the role of chief financial officer at Apollo Tyres Ltd. He joined Apollo in 2004 and previously served the company as group head of corporate strategy and finance.

Kumar will be based out of company’s headquarters in Gurgaon, India and will oversee global accounts, finance, taxation and investor relations for Apollo.

“Gaurav has been a key member of our strategy team and has played a leading role in numerous projects that have had a significant impact on company’s revenue and profitability," says Neeraj Kanwar, vice chairman and managing director for Apollo. "Given his strong track record, within and outside of Apollo Tyres, we believe that he is the right fit for the role of chief financial officer for the company.”

The company says Kumar was an intrinsic part of its global growth strategy — from entry into South Africa in 2006, to acquisition of the Netherlands-based Vredestein Banden in 2009, to the most recent Hungary greenfield facility. In 2010, Kumar was nominated to the company's management board. Kumar will report to Vice Chairman Neeraj Kanwar.

Kumar says, “I am very happy to be part of a company, which has given me such growth opportunities. As we expand our footprint across geographies, and capture new markets, my focus would be on further strengthening our balance sheet.”

Before joining Apollo Tyres, Kumar was associated with HCL Technologies, SRF and UB Group.
