Omni begins online sales of Timberland tires

April 17, 2015

Omni United Pte. Ltd. has launched a Timberland tires e-commerce site and installer network. Timberland tires are the first tires purposely designed to be recycled into footwear outsoles.

The Timberland tire line is the result of a partnership between Omni United and Timberland LLC. The co-branded line is manufactured by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. The tires were unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas in November 2014.

The new e-commerce site launched on April 17 with 20 sizes of the Timberland Cross. The tires are available for purchase via an installer network containing over 1,100 locations and a dealer network. An additional 16 sizes of the Timberland Cross will be available in September 2015.

Consumers are able to visit timberlandtires.com, input their vehicle information or tire size, and see current tire availability. If tires are not currently available for the size vehicle requested, a notice will appear letting the consumer know if or when the tires will become available in the marketplace.

Omni United Pte. Ltd will also release more product lines, including the Timberland A/T with 30 sizes in September 2015 and the Timberland Tour in early 2016, with 50,000 to 80,000 mileage warranties and over 75% coverage of the United States market.

“It is important that tires are available where consumers choose to shop,” says John Soule, vice president of global marketing and licensed business development. “We value the service our installers provide in an ever-changing marketplace”.

On the website, the consumer will pay for their Timberland tires and shipping costs to the installer. A pre-determined installation charge will be paid at the time of service.

The partnership, which was first conceived three years ago, when sustainability leaders from The tire and footwear industries are two of the largest users of virgin rubber. The majority of tires on the market today have a limited life span; ecologically-sound disposal at the end of that life span presents yet another challenge. Timberland and Omni United Pte Ltd. envisioned – and are now bringing to life – a partnership in which they are creating a more sustainable lifecycle for rubber.
