Marangoni adds production in Brazil, rebuilds in Germany

Marangoni SpA continues to go global. Fresh from signing its 27th RINGTread licensee in North America (through its Marangoni Tread North America Inc. subsidiary), the company has increased its presence in Brazil and Germany.

In Brazil, Marangoni do Brasil has signed a multi-year agreement with

Renovadora de Pneus SL (SL Group), one of the leading truck tire retreaders in South America. The SL Group, founded in 1996, has four large retreading plants located in the main cities of São Paulo state.

Alexandre Levi Cardoso, sales director for the SL Group, believes that the agreement with Marangoni will allow the SL Group to further grow its market share, thanks to the exclusive RINGTtread technology.

Plinio de Luca, sales director for Marangoni Do Brasil, says that this partnership will help the company achieve its prime objective: a market share of 10% within eight years of opening its own manufacturing plant in Brazil.

In Germany, Marangoni's compound department at the Henstedt-Ulzburg facilities, which was destroyed by fire, will be rebuilt using advanced technology. The plant, operated by subsidiary Ellerbrock GmbH, will be up and running again in the spring of 2009.

"The new compound system will be an important step forwards, as it will allow us to make innovative compounds for tire retreading," says Matthias Leppert, managing director of Ellerbrock.

By exploiting other Marangoni companies, and postponing until next year "a number of important product developments," Marangoni has been able to make up for the Ellerbrock plant's lack of production, thus guaranteeing the regular supply of precured strips and rings to its customers, according to Marangoni.
