Lloyd’s Tire celebrates 75 years with expansion

March 16, 2015

Lloyd’s Tire and Auto Care Inc. is marking its 75th year serving Santa Cruz, Calif., area tire customers with a major expansion of its facilities and investments in automotive diagnostic and repair equipment.

The company, a family-owned business established in 1940, has significantly increased efficiency and improved customer service with its expansion into a 9,000-square-foot building adjacent to its existing facility on Jan. 1, 2015.

The shop now has 15 service bays, with room for future expansion. Lloyd’s says it has invested in new equipment for faster and more accurate alignment to help more customers, faster and without the need for an appointment. The new equipment also accommodates much larger vehicles than the older aligners.

Co-owner Dean Schwartz says, "This new space and equipment will allow us to provide the best possible service to our customers and maintain our position as a top tier shop."

Throughout its history, Lloyd’s has innovated and invested to keep up with the latest automotive technology.

In 2013, the company made major investments to become one of the first automotive facilities in the nation to become fully certified in hybrid car repair. Lloyd’s has been recognized by the Santa Cruz Sentinel and Good Times magazine for sustainability, and was a finalist in 2014’s Acterra Awards for Sustainability in business program.

Among the latest major upgrades to Lloyd's facilities is the addition of three Hunter Hawkeye Elite alignment. Lloyd's is the only shop in Northern California, including new car dealers, to have four Hunter alignment machines.

The company has also added four Hunter scissor lifts, an RX16T-IS, an RX12AT-IS, and two RX10-IS lifts. These new lifts raise and lower faster, and the alignment machines provide numbers to the technicians much faster, dramatically increasing the shop's efficiently.

Two of the store's 20 employees have over twenty years service. Most of the employees have been with the company for more than 10 years.

"We're very excited to mark our 75th year in business in Santa Cruz with this major expansion in our capabilities. I invite everyone to drop by and tour our new facilities," says co-owner Larry Johnson.

Throughout 2015, Lloyd's is celebrating its anniversary with tire and alignment deals and other special offers for customers.
