Toyo recalls 138 light truck tires

Feb. 19, 2015

Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. is recalling 138 Open Country M/T tires because the affected tires were made with their belts off center, which may result in tread separation and/or loss of inflation pressure.

The light truck tires were sold exclusively in the replacement market and intended for full-size pickup trucks. Drivers may experience pull, vibration and/or uneven tire wear during early stages of separation.

The affected tires are size 40X15.5R22 127Q and were manufactured Oct. 26, 2014, to Nov. 1, 2014 (week code 4314). According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall notice, tires produced before or after week 4314 are not affected.

Toyo will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in February 2015. Owners may contact Toyo customer service at 1-800-442-8696.

Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
