Dates set for TIA's hands-on farm tire training

Jan. 8, 2015

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is sharing the dates for two hands-on basic Farm Tire Service (FTS) training classes. The first class, sponsored by Tandem Tire, will be held April 7-9, 2015, in Maquoketa, Iowa. The second class, sponsored by Dawson Tire & Wheel, will be held Sept. 1 - 3, 2015, in Gothenburg, Neb.

FTS is a minimum skills training and certificate program that outlines and explains the guidelines for servicing farm, agriculture and construction tire and wheel assemblies. Participants will learn step-by-step procedures for demounting, mounting and inflating, single, dual and 3-piece assemblies in addition to service truck operation and liquid ballast installation and removal. The classes will run from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. each day.

“TIA hosted hands-on FTS classes for the first time this past summer and they were very well received so we are excited to bring classes to Iowa and Nebraska in 2015,” says TIA Director of Training Chris Hoogenboom. Tuition is $495 for one or two attendees. Companies sending three or more participants will receive a discounted rate of $445 per student. Attendees who successfully complete the three-day class will receive a certificate of completion.
