Bauer Built Expands in the Twin Cities

Nov. 15, 2019

Bauer Built Inc. is opening a third location to serve the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn., market. The new location, at 1066 Gemini Road in Eagan, features six bays capable of accommodating 11 tractors or five tractor trailers, or a combination of both. The store, which will offer tires and tire-related services, will also have mechanical services for fleets, along with mobile service for the Twin Cities metro area.

The store, which will be Bauer Built's 38th, opens Nov. 18.

Tad Bauer, president of the company, based in Durand, Wis., says the addition "is the result of continuing efforts by Bauer Built to expand their existing operation as part of their overall growth strategy."

Bauer Built will sell its full line of truck tires from the new location, including these brands: Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Continental, General and Galaxy, plus Michelin retread products.

Bauer Built was founded in 1944 by G. F. “Sam” Bauer.  The original business was a bulk petroleum business but shortly after, in January 1945 the company began selling tires and related services.

In addition to 38 tire and service centers, Bauer Built has two distribution centers, seven Michelin retread plants, and three wheel-refinishing operations in 10 midwestern states. The company also operates the bulk petroleum business referred to as Bauer Built Oil out of its headquarters in Durand.

Bauer Built is No. 7 on the list of largest commercial tire dealers in the country, and No. 9 spot on the list of largest retreaders in the U.S. Bauer Built is the 30th largest independent tire dealer in the country.
