Michelin tops J.D. Power OE tire study in four categories

Sept. 15, 2008

The Michelin brand has topped the rankings in four categories in J.D. Power and Associates' 2008 Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Study.

Those segments include Luxury/Sport, Mass Market/Non-Luxury, Pickup/Full-Size Van and SUV.

The 2008 results bring Michelin's total to 56 awards in the United States.

This marks the second consecutive year that Michelin not only ranks highest across all four segments, but also "demonstrates a particularly low incidence of reported problems," says Allison LaDuc, senior research manager of automotive product quality at J.D. Power and Associates.

Here are the brands rated better than average in each of the four segments, according to the study.

Luxury/Sport: Michelin, Continental, Goodyear.

Mass Market/Non-Luxury: Michelin, Pirelli.

Pickup/Full-Size Van: Michelin, Goodyear, BFGoodrich.

SUV: Michelin, General, Pirelli, Dunlop, Goodyear.
