Yokohama Tire Corp. is updating its lineup of touring tires with the Avid Ascend LX, designed for passenger cars, minivans and crossovers and available in 39 sizes with an 85,000-mile tread life warranty. The Avid Ascend LX offers four key performance-related benefits: long treadlife, wet traction, winter traction, and a quiet, smooth ride. The 85,000-mile tread life warranty on all sizes (ranging from 15 inches to 18 inches) and speed ratings (T, H and V) is another bonus.
The tire is manufactured at Yokohama's plant in Salem, Va.
Here's a look at the four big benefits:
- Long tread life that’s possible thanks to the new L-2 compound, featuring a distinct polymer blend that delivers upgraded wear resistance. Plus, a wide, flat contour provides a large footprint that evenly distributes pressure to combat uneven wear.
- Wet traction is provided by four wide circumferential grooves, along with lateral grooves that help evacuate water and improve hydroplaning resistance.
- Winter traction comes from the wavy 3D sipes on the shoulder and notches in the intermediate ribs. They provide effective edges for excellent grip on wintery roads.
- A quieter ride from an offset tread design staggered in a five-block sequence that helps reduce pattern and road noise.
