The new SmartWay-verified 715R tire from Yokohama Tire Corp. is an open shoulder regional drive tire.
Manufactured at Yokohama’s plant in West Point, Miss., the 715R is available in 11R22.5. Three more sizes – 295/75R22.5, 285/75R24.5 and 11R24.5 – will arrive in early 2020.
“The deep-tread, 715R is the answer for fleets looking to maximize traction and boost their bottom line by having tires that provide long, even wear, an open shoulder design and fuel efficiency,” says Tom Clauer, Yokohama’s senior manager of commercial and OTR product planning.
“The 715R also offers high retreadability, so it truly delivers the performance and value fleets require.”
Yokohama says the 715R offers longer wear, which is achieved by a deep 26/32-inch tread pattern, along with an advanced tread design featuring strategically placed tie bars that control block movement and significantly minimize heel/toe wear.
Other features include sturdy, open shoulder blocks that are precisely spaced and help minimize the retention of foreign objects in order to provide maximum traction. An exclusive cut and chip resistant compound reduces rolling resistance for fuel efficiency. The 715R’s 16-ply construction and an H load-rating provide higher load capacity.
