Nokian Tyres plc has boosted storage capacity by 40,000 tires and extended its next-day delivery service to the western U.S. with the opening of a new warehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The company says the facility has already allowed it to achieve new levels of distribution, reaching California, the Northwest and Intermountain areas with next-day delivery.
“As demand for our products grows, we’re scaling our infrastructure to strengthen our ability to serve our customers’ needs,” says Tommi Heinonen, vice president of sales.
“The Salt Lake City warehouse is one of many steps we continue to take to make sure we’re equipped to support our growing customer base.”
Nokian’s infrastructure investment includes three new warehouses in the past three years (Montreal, Shorewood, Ill., and now Salt Lake City) plus the first production facility in North America. The new factory in Dayton, Tenn., will produce 4 million tires per year once it reaches full capacity.
The Dayton factory will begin making tires for commercial sale in 2020. Premium all-season and all-weather tires will be manufactured there.
