BKT Will Showcase a 51-inch Earthmax SR 46 in Germany

March 4, 2019

Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) is taking two extra inches with it to Bauma 2019 in Munich, Germany.

Bauma, the International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment, will run from April 8-14.

At the trade fair, BKT will introduce its Earthmax SR 46 in a new size: 33.00 R 51. With a diameter of more than 3 meters -- close to 10 feet -- aand a weight of not less than 2,400 kg (5,291 pounds), it is the largest size ever built by BKT.

The company already had been producing a 49-inch size for the tire.

Earthmax SR46 is designed as "an innovative solution for rigid dumpers operating under adverse conditions in rocky environments such as mines, dams, and the construction sites of large building structures," said the company. The tire is particularly suitable for transporting heavy loads.

In addition, impacts, mechanical stress and punctures are reduced to a minimum thanks to the steel-belted casing, "which perfectly optimizes operating hours and maximizes productivity."

Another distinguishing mark of Earthmax SR 46 is the special tread design that features a block lug pattern with circumferential grooves; the result is reduced wear of its external part plus excellent cornering performance, said the company.

"BKT is well aware of the fact that the tire as a fundamental component of the machinery system is able to enhance significantly both the latter features and performance. For this reason, BKT cooperates side by side with the big machinery manufacturers in order to offer cutting-edge solutions."
