Continental names new chairman

Continental AG has named Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann chairman of its executive board, effective Sept. 1. He will replace Manfred Wennemer, who will leave the company on Aug. 31.

Neumann has been a member of Continental's board since October 2004 and also is the company's chief technology officer. Since December 2007, he has been responsible for Continental's Chassis & Safety and Powertrain divisions as well.

In related news, Continental has appointed Alan Hippe to the newly created position of deputy chairman of the executive board. Hippe is responsible for Continental's Passenger and Light Truck Tires division, is president of Continental Tire North America Inc. and serves as Continental AG's chief financial officer.

In addition, Hippe will be responsible for Continental's ContiTech division starting Oct. 1, replacing Gerhard Lerch, who is retiring.
