Tireco’s Patagonia Tire Competes in First UTV Off-Road Race

Feb. 5, 2019

Tireco Inc. put its new Milestar Patagonia SXT tire to the test at the King of the Hammers UTV race. The race marks the Milestar brand’s first foray into utility terrain vehicle off-road competition.

“Entering the recreational and competition UTV segment is an evolution of our Patagonia family of tires and shows our commitment to the light truck and off-roading community,” says Andrew Hoit, Tireco’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We’re excited to be partnered with Dan Fresh Racing and being able to showcase what the SXT can do during one of the toughest races in the world.”

Tireco partnered with Savvy Off Road, Fox Shocks, and Dan Fresh Racing to compete at the 2019 Ultra4 Can Am UTV Race presented by HCR. The single-day race is part of the 2019 King of the Hammers event Feb. 1-9 in Johnson Valley, Calif.

Starting in 47th, Dan Fresh drove a Can Am Maverick X3 to finish 12th overall. Only 28 of the starting 112 vehicles finished.

Dan Fresh of Orange County, Calif., has competed in several classes over his 20-year career; securing four Baja 1000 wins, two SCORE Championships and the overall victory of the King of The Hammers Everyman Challenge in 2018. For 2019, Fresh partnered with Savvy Off Road to help prepare his Can Am Maverick X3, equipped with 32x10.00R15 Patagonia SXT tires.

About the Patagonia SXT

Launched in late 2018, the Patagonia SXT is a UTV and side-by-side specific off-road tire designed for harsh desert and rock conditions. Tireco says it is constructed with a Kevlar belt package to enhance strength while keeping the tire’s carcass weight as light as possible.

Formulated with a cut and chip resistant, silica-enriched tread compound, the SXT is capable of providing competent traction in the silt, sand and rocks. Deep, wide grooves with stone ejectors help disperse dirt and debris, while overlapping wide tread blocks maintain stability and improve sure-footed control during rapid acceleration and braking, according to the company.

The Patagonia SXT is now available for both factory direct and warehouse shipments.

Patagonia SXT is available in the following sizes: 28x10.00R14, 30x10.00R14, 32x10.00R14, 30x10.00R15, 32x10.00R15, 33x10.00R15 and 34x10.00R15.
