Federal rolls out street performance tire

Aug. 24, 2008

Federal Tire Corp. officially introduced its latest street performance tire, the 595EVO, earlier today, Aug. 24, at an event near Palmdale, Calif. The tire "is for the mass performance market," says Federal CEO Jamie Ma.

The 595EVO is available in 20 sizes, ranging from 17 inches to 20 inches, 55-series through 30-series.

"More sizes will be coming along. Ultimately, there will be over 60 sizes, covering a huge range," says Ma. Production began during the fourth quarter of 2007.

The 595EVO is the next generation of Federal's 595 performance tire and boasts improved handling, water evacuation and other characteristics, according to Ma. "The noise level of the tire is Federal's best ever."

Specific design elements, among others, include:

* a new groove profile utilizing angled groove walls to "disseminate" stress points and pressure.

* a center rib to provide "constant and even surface area contact."

* large shoulder blocks for "improved handling and responsive steering at high speeds."

* silica-infused compounding for enhanced handling and low rolling resistance.

The tire will hold special appeal for street racers, adds Ma. "There are a lot of street racers, especially in southern California."
