BFNT recalls 2,100 Bridgestone Dueler tires

Aug. 22, 2008

Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) is recalling approximately 2,100 Bridgestone Dueler H/T 684 II tires in size P235/60R17 that were not properly marked on their outlined white letter side.

Included are tires with the following serial numbers stamped on their black sidewalls: 7X0UBD43807, 7X0UBD43907, 7X0UBD44007, 7X0UBD44107 and 7X0UBD44207.

The tires do not have any structural or performance problems, say BFNT officials.

They were built at BFNT's Aiken County, S.C., plant during the months of September and October 2007 "and were intended for sale primarily through BFNT's channel of independent dealers, as well as the retail stores operated by its affiliated company, BFS Retail & Commercial Operations LLC."

The tires do not meet the sidewall stamping requirement of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139, which governs radial tires for light vehicles.

"Every effort will be made to identify customers who have purchased tires covered by this program in order to advise them of the campaign by mail. However, consumers need not to wait to receive a letter in order to have the tires inspected and if they are part of this action, replaced."
