Michelin North America Inc.'s new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 TM ZP run-flat tire will be original equipment on the 2009 Corvette ZR1. Size P285/30R19 will be mounted on the front and P335/25R20 tires will be on the back.
The tire contains two heavy-duty rayon carcasses to reinforce its "zero-pressure" sidewall inserts, advanced rubber compounding, highly bridged tread blocks and other features, say Michelin officials.
"The Corvette ZR1 is a historical breakthrough OE fitment for Michelin," says Tom Chubb, vice president, marketing, for Michelin Automotive Industry Division.
The Pilot Sport PS2 TM ZP will be manufactured at Michelin facilities in Greenville, S.C.
During the 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, Michelin announced plans to expand its ZP run-flat replacement tire sizes for the C5, C6 and C6 Z06 models of the Corvette.
