American Tire Distributors Inc. has completed the acquisition of Homann Tire Wholesale, which will expand its service across the state of Texas.
The acquisition also will provide ATD with its first distribution center in the state of Louisiana.
Homann Tire Wholesale operated five wholesale distribution centers in San Antonio, Killeen, Corpus Christi and Houston, Texas, and Lafayette. La. It also operated two retail stores; ATD's purchase does not include the retail stores.
The five distribution center locations service more than 1,600 customers in Texas and Louisiana.
"The Homann Tire operation, including its strong team of people, will be an excellent complement to the current ATD distribution center network in Texas," says Dick Johnson, chairman and CEO of ATD. "In addition, we look forward to servicing the customers across southern Louisiana with our first distribution point in that state."
Homann Tire was founded by Ray Homann in 1974 as a single retail store in San Antonio, Texas. His son, Ken Homann, took ownership of the business in 1991. Ken grew the company's retail business and opened its first wholesale distribution center in 1997. Homann still runs the retail stores.
