Marangoni Tread SpA has earned EMAS certification for its manufacturing sites in Ferentino and Frosinone, Italy.
Both plants also have the following:
* ISO 9001:2000 quality certification;
* ISO 14001:2004 environmental certification.
EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) is a European standard designed to promote the voluntary adoption of an environmental management system "that goes well beyond ISO 14001, since the participating organizations must guarantee a certain level of efficiency, transparency and credibility," says Marangoni.
The system requires the results of the organization's environmental performance to be published externally.
Voluntary enlisting in the EMAS register allows organiztions to assess and improve their environmental performance. According to Marangoni, greater efficiency of the organization helps reduce waste and decrease environmental impact.
