Truck tonnage exhibited its first increase in several months during September, according to the American Trucking Associations (ATA).
The 1.5% gain was the biggest tonnage increase since February 2007.
However, ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello says he expects tonnage to "remain choppy. Nearly all economic indicators suggest continued sluggishness for the trucking industry in the near term."
