Flynn's Tire & Auto Service adds 18th retail store

Nov. 2, 2007

Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service based in Hermitage, Pa., has purchased Vowinckel Tires in Clarion, Pa.

This will be the company's 18th retail location in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. Flynn's also operates six commercial tire locations, three wholesale warehouses and a retread plant in Dover, Ohio.

Joe Flynn III, president of Flynn’s, says, “We are pleased to be able to follow in the footsteps of a respected, family-owned business such as Vowinckel Tires.

"Our plans are to quickly become good neighbors and service the area with the same friendly, family-owned spirit that Bill Vowinckel had maintained for years. This purchase is also consistent with our overall growth strategy and fits neatly into our market map. We will continue to make selective acquisitions when they fit within our scope of operation.”

Most major tire brands will be available including Goodyear, Dunlop, Kelly, Yokohama, Vogue, Republic and others.

The company says there are plans to expand the new location's automotive services over the next few months to include brakes, shocks, struts, batteries, alternators and starters, exhausts, air and fuel filters, belts and hoses, air conditioning service, tune-ups and Pennsylvania state inspections.

Flynn's has named Matt Neely as store manager. He comes from the company's Butler, Pa., retail store.

Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service has been a family-owned business for over 43 years and was established in 1964 with the first store located in Sharon, Pa.
