SEMA Show, Day One: Cooper promotes Hands on the Wheel

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is teaming up with Champ Car to promote the racing organization's Hands on the Wheel safe driving campaign.

Cooper plans to promote the program by making pledge forms and educational materials about the dangers of driving while distracted available through its network of independent tire dealers.

The Findlay, Ohio-based tiremaker also will distribute campaign information during stops of its Cooper Mobile Tour and will include "Hands on the Wheel" data on its corporate Web site.

"Hands on the Wheel delivers a message of safety that is important to all of us at Cooper Tire," says Phil Caris, Cooper's vice president of sales and marketing.

Cooper announced the partnership earlier today at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas, Nev.
