Yokohama Tire Corp. will use next week's Specialty Equipment Market Association Show as a forum to introduce its new run-flat tire, the Advan Sport ZPS.
The tire can be driven up to 50 miles at 55 miles per hour after the loss of air, say Yokohama officials.
The Advan Sport ZPS will be available in 2008 in 13 sizes to fit BMW 3 Series, Lexus GS and other high-performance cars.
It contains rigid sidewall reinforcement with a "low heat-generating compound that's designed to support the weight of the vehicle. An exclusive bead filler delivers a comfortable ride during normal operations and high-rigidity under zero pressure conditions."
The tire also contains variable round grooves, an extra-thick bead wire, and Yokohama nanotechnology, among other features.
