Fantastic Four Sweepstakes surfs into Continental Tire dealerships

Continental Tire North America Inc. is teaming with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to present the "Continental Tire Power of 4 Sweepstakes."

The promotion, which is tied to the "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" DVD release, is targeted at consumers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.

Consumers in the U.S. and Canadian markets who purchase any four Continental brand tires from Sept. 17 through Jan. 17, 2008, will receive a digital picture frame. In addition, they will have the opportunity to enter the "Power of 4 Sweepstakes." The U.S. prizes include the following:

Grand Prize: a "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" customized 2007 Dodge Charger built by West Coast Customs. It features Continental tires and Giovanna Wheels.

First Prize: a specially designed custom Gibson guitar.

Second Prize: an X-Box 360 with a "Fantastic Prize Pack."

Third Prize: a "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" DVD.

In Canada, the Grand Prize is a home theater package.

In Brazil and Mexico, consumers who purchase two Continental tires receive a DVD of the first Fantastic Four movie. If they purchase four Continental tires, they will receive the "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" DVD.

"The characteristics are the same for the movie and the brand," says Andreas Gerstenberger, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Continental Tire's Passenger/Light Truck tire division. "They are both technology driven, futuristic and innovative."

The promotion and sweepstakes coincide with the DVD release of the movie on Oct. 2. The film debuted in mid-June, and grossed more than $273 million worldwide box-office. It stars Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Julian McMahon.

"The U.S. version of this program will expose the Continental brand to millions of consumers," says Travis Roffler, Continental's director of marketing. "We felt that the promotion with Twentieth Century Fox's DVD release... was a unique opportunity. It's not only a perfect venue to build brand image for Continental, but it provides an exciting way to sell tires."

The U.S. sweepstakes will be supported with point-of-sale displays at 3,000 Continental tire dealerships nationwide; a Web banner ad campaign; and magazine ads in Primedia publications, HFM and DUB.

The Fantastic Four was launched by Marvel Comics in 1961. Considered the "First Family" of Superheroes, it is one of the longest-running comic book series in history.
