Cooper inks college football sponsorship, promises new ads

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has signed an exclusive entitlement sponsorship with the ABC College Football Halftime Show. Cooper also is launching a new ad campaign this fall that will include TV spots on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2.

"The Cooper Tire Halftime Show is part of an exclusive sponsorship with ABC," say Cooper officials.

"During the show, the Cooper logo will be prominently displayed in a number of prime locations. During the second half of regionally televised college football games, the 'Cooper Tire Defensive Stop of the Game' will be featured, which will highlight a great block and profile the player who made it."

The new season starts this Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cooper's new advertising campaign will launch September 1 on ABC and ESPN. It shows customers riding on Cooper tires "and discovering how the tires enhance their lifestyle, independent spirit and fun driving experience.

"The three new messages highlight Cooper products, including: the new all-season CS4 Touring in 'The Official Tire of All That;' the ultra-high and high performance Cooper Zeon family of products in 'Rated for the Speed of Life;' and the Discoverer family of light truck/SUV tires pictured in 'The Earth is 2/3 Water, Make the Most of the Other 1/3.'

"The commercials feature bold and memorable music, and fast-paced black and white imagery."
