Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will supply replacement truck tires and retreads to Dart Transit Co., one of the country's largest truckload dry-van carriers.
The recently signed supply contract lasts through 2008.
"We believe that by using our national network of independent dealers, Dart will improve its efficiency in maintaining its fleet," says Steve McClellan, vice president of Goodyear's commercial tire systems.
Goodyear is supplying commercial tires to Dart from its plants in Danville, Va.; Buffalo, N.Y.; and Topeka, Kan.
More than 2,700 tractors power Dart, which once operated primarily east of the Rockies. However, the privately held, Eagan, Minn.-based company expanded its service in seven Western states two months ago.
