Hankook prepares to unveil drifting Porsche

Hankook Tire America Corp. will debut North America's first purpose-built drifting Porsche during the fourth round of the Formula Drift Pro Championship at the Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., on July 14.

The modified Porsche 993 GT-2 Turbo features a 600-horsepower engine.

Hankook also will be showing off its new Mobile Marketing Rig. The fully assembled, $1 million rig is 30 feet wide and 80 feet long.

Designed as a place for fans to receive autographs from Hankook drivers and get free Hankook Tire paraphenelia, it features multimedia kiosks where fans can have "VIP" Hankook credentials and their own "hero" cards made while they wait.

The event schedule is as follows:

Main setup and placement: Thursday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

General setup and pre-qualifying: Friday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Main event day: Saturday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Qualifying rounds on Satuday will be held from 1-3 p.m. The main competition will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with the trophy and closing ceremonies to follow.
