Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC will provide Bridgestone brand tires to the Champ Car World Series at least through the 2009 season.
In November 2006, Bridgestone and Champ Car World Series LLC signed a multi-year deal that secured Bridgestone as the "official tire" of Champ Car through the 2008 season. As part of that agreement, contingencies were put in place that would trigger automatic contract renewal for the 2009 season; those provisions have been met.
In addition to its responsibility as official tire -- which includes use of the popular "red" alternate tire concept at every 2007 event -- Bridgestone has supported the series this year with a free fan photo booth at all domestic events and driver autograph cards.
"We'll continue to remain actively involved and look to increase that involvement as the contract extension takes place through 2009," says Al Speyer, Bridgestone Firestone's executive director of motorsports.
Bridgestone joined the series in 2002.
