June 18, 2007

Speedco Inc. will host a grand opening celebration tomorrow (June 19) for its 50th location. The on-highway truck lube and tire service provider is opening the store in Whiteland, Ind.

Speedco is headquartered in Cayuga, Ind. It opened its first quick lube truck location in October 1991 in Effingham, Ill. Since then, the company has added tires and tire services to its list of offerings in a number of locations, with the goal of offering tires at all of its stores.

The company currently sells Goodyear, Michelin, Yokohama and Dunlop brand tires and Bandag retreads.

Bandag Inc. owns a majority interest in the company. Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. recently purchased Bandag (see "Bridgestone Americas completes acquisition of Bandag" on June 1).

“We are thrilled to open our history-making 50th store,” Mark Clark, chief executive officer and president, commented about the new location. “We will continue to open stores across the nation to increase driver convenience.”

The grand opening will feature food, refreshments and service specials. The Open Road on XM Satellite Radio Channel 171 will be doing a live broadcast on America’s Truckin’ Network from mignight until 5 a.m. on June 19.

The new Speedco Chopper, built by the Orange County Choppers; the Speedco Supertruck, the ‘trick’d out’ truck by Country Music Television’s Chrome Shop Mafia; and the Shell Rotella Roadshow will be on display.
