Les Schwab gets a well-deserved send-off in MTD's June issue

June 14, 2007

Les Schwab, who died May 18 at the age of 89, founded and cultivated one of the most successful and well-respected tire store chains in the United States.

Lloyd Stoyer, former editor of Modern Tire Dealer, eulogizes Schwab in our June issue. The heartfelt, three-page article is a tribute to both Schwab, the small-town boy who made good, and their friendship.

Schwab is gone, but his legacy will live on, according to both Chairman Phil Wick and CEO Dick Borgman. Stoyer talked with both men about the future of Les Schwab Tire Centers, which is 100% owned by the Schwab family.

Schwab was MTD's 2000 Tire Dealer of the Year.
