Michelin delivers Baja T/A tires to the military

May 30, 2007

Michelin North America Inc. has delivered the first 5,000 of its BFGoodrich Baja T/A Military Edition tires for mounting on Humvee vehicles used by the U.S. military. The tires are being made at Michelin's Fort Wayne, Ind., plant.

Michelin officials say the company is on target to fulfill its contractual requirements throughout the end of the year.

As part of the program, the Fort Wayne plant has expanded its product mix to include larger tires with more complicated constructions, which plant Manager Paul Cagle says is a "significant milestone" for the facility.

"While the current contract with the U.S. military expires in the fourth quarter of 2007, (Michelin) intends to continue and expand the partnership in 2008," add Michelin officials.

The BFG Baja T/A Military Edition tire has a load capacity of 3,850 pounds at 50 psi.
