Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.'s projections for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2008, call for an increase in net sales to 532 billion yen and an increase in operating income to 28.5 billion yen.

If achieved, the sales and income increases would represent 7% and 35.3% gains, respectively, over previous-year numbers.

Yokohama also expects its net income to rise 6.9% over previous-year levels to 17.5 billion yen.

Earlier this month, Yokohama announced that it will triple its production of high performance tires at its Aichi, Japan, factory to 3.1 million units as part of an $83 million upgrade. The company also plans to boost its production in Thailand.
