Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has named Ron Shield interim vice president/general manager of its Asian operations.
Shield recently retired from Cooper's European operation, where he spent many years with the company's Avon Tyres division.
As interim vice president, he replaces Cooper Asia Pacific President Gene Arnold, who retires May 31.
Arnold helped negotiate Cooper's outsourcing relationship with Hongzhou, was instrumental in formulating the firm's joint venture relationship with Kenda Rubber Industrial Co., and oversaw a variety of other activities in Asia.
