Word's getting out about right to repair, says TIA's Fiore

May 10, 2007

Legislators in various states are taking notice of the right to repair issue, says Paul Fiore, director of government and business relations for the Tire Industry Association.

Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Nevada and Oklahoma are all considering right to repair laws.

"The message is getting out pretty strongly," says Fiore, in part due to the efforts of state tire dealer associations. "We certainly have the automobile manufacturers and car dealers scratching their heads."

Right to repair is being framed as a consumer choice issue, according to Fiore. This puts it in a context that legislators easily understand, he adds.
