Yokohama plant meets environmental standard

April 27, 2007

Yokohama Tire Corp.'s Salem, Va., plant has received ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification.

The internationally recognized standard "helps a company reduce its impact on the environment's air, water and land," say Yokohama officials.

Yokohama officials say the company's plants aim for zero waste output.

"This certification is just one facet of our 'Green Initiative' that covers United States operations," says John Nevin, who oversees quality assurance at the Salem factory.
